San Diego crew- Big Bear Aug 12-14?

Just wanted to see if anyone else is interested in going up to BB with TTORA that weekend (second wknd of Aug)

So far MarcP and I are going to rep the 4runners amidst all those *bling* tacos.

They have also mentioned espn2 will be following them/us around on sat/sun and doing some taping for some show. They also are looking for a driver for the hot hostess and cameraman on a couple of different runs. I have already volunteered, but there are some dub cab tacos going too, so we'll see.

Right now they are trying to secure a large campsite, but nothing is locked in yet. Also, some of them will be staying at motel 6.

I'm down if the deathrunner is back. It went in for paint today. It's getting there.

Hey Rob, i'm riding with Marc. I'm too poor to afford another vehicle right now, so i'll ride around and drink beer for the t.v. cameraman. Gotta represent the San Diego rednex.

OK I want to go to this, I've never been to Big Bear, It looks like the runs are Fri and Sat? What do you guys normally do when you go? I'm thinking I'll head to Palm Springs Fri after work (stay at a friends house) and then go to Big Bear early Sat and hook up with ou guys, is that a good plan or?? are there any runs on Sunday? Should i go straight to Big Bear and camp?

I think I am heading up early Sat morning. The main runs are on Sat, but last year some people also ran on Sunday.

Here are some pics of the run I went on last year--I will probably do the same one this time--

I'm probably gonna head up some time fri night, I got there pretty late last year but it was better than driving up in the morning and then wheeling all day.

What trail(s) are you running and what equipment would be required to clear the run?

lockers? tire size? protection?

I plan on running Gold Mtn and white Mtn. Gold Mtn is pretty easy, I only remember a couple of tough spots. Very scenic.

I only went up the first part of White Mtn before I started having trans overheat problems and turned around.

Both can be done in an almost stock truck--sliders recommended.

hey Marc
Sounds like you guys are gearing up for a trip. I have been waiting for over a week for the lift from Extreme off road. It should have been here on Wed. If I can get it and put it on the Runner I may be able to hit this up. Sliders and drop pan hard bar will be here this week also. I am going to hit up the local marina supply for a 4 or 5 inch deckplate and order an amsoil filter this week to. Tires will be directly after the lift. She is goin to be stylin! I will watch this thread and hope for a big delivery soon.

They seem to be dragging their feet on finding a campsite, since we have this many people should we be looking for our own?

Hey Bruce, I can't remember who set up the group camp for us last time, were you involved or do you have any ideas?

I'm hoping to make this one. I'll have to keep tabs on the cash flow though.

I am with Rob in thinking about heading up kinda late Friday night. Looks like we will have plenty of 4runners to represent--last year I was the only one, and I think I had the oldest truck too.

See mine way in the back??
