I'm not sure the name of the road the second entrance is on, but yes if you take the second entrance it will save you time by not having to drive up the beach as much.

I just looked it up and Pier Ave. is the second entrance to the dunes and will save you beach driving time. Hope that helps.

I had choosen CB channel 12 because every off-road club in america wants to use channel 4. And usually they're all at pismo at the same time. But we can use 4 if everybody wants. Also the same number FRS channel so it's easy to remember.

1ST ANNUAL PISMO 4RJ FINAL UPDATE
DATE: MIDNITE THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2003

This update supercedes all other email, webpage, and Yotatech thread updates. We recognize that there is some conflicting information out there so we want to finalize our instructions and plans for this event.

OVERNIGHT CAMPING AVAILABILITY
It is true that camping space is limited and has been sold out in the past. Between the time Tom, Steve and I planned this event, Pismo has closed down a significant part of the ORV park because of environmental concerns. This resulted in limiting the number of vehicles allowed to stay overnight given the much smaller space. We truly apologize for not staying on top of this. You can all spank Steve like the mischevious boy that he is when you see him.

However, one of our members, Monkeynuts (Scott) is out there as we speak (11pm on 8/8/03). I talked for a bit and he provided me this update: The ranger says that it "has been crowded and sold out and that he says that it will probably sell out by 6pm on Friday. Thus, get here early!" I cannot reiterate this enough, given our situation. But nevertheless, we have a contingency plan. Please read on...

MEETING/CAMPING PLACE
We will meet between Beach Mile Marker 6 and the first bathroom south of BMM6. Scott is camped there right now and Robinhood15000 is going to be there around 10am on Friday morning. I myself will be there around 3pm.

Scott and Steve will stake out a large plot of land w/ pole markers and yellow tape. For those of you arriving before 5pm, please help Scott and Steve legitimately "claim" this area by parking in the area and "holding the fort", so to speak.

Scott tells me that BMM6 (and just south of BMM6) is the furthest place we can camp. Scott estimates that this place will fill up last, given its location.

LATE COMER'S CONTINGENCY PLAN
Our contingency plan is to have you park in a safe neighborhood and shuttle you in. If you arrive past Friday 6pm and cannot get an overnight pass, buy the day pass (its cheap), meet us at camp, unload your stuff, set up camp, eat some food/drinks, have some fun, and then when the park closes for day passers, we'll escort you to my friend's place in Pismo.

Fortunately, my old roommate from UCR, Kaigo and his wife Heidi, lives about 4 miles from Pismo Beach and he says his neighborhood is safe and has good street parking. Thus, we are going to ask you to follow some of us to his place, park there, and we will drive you back to the the campsite. Here is his address and yahoo map link to the neighborhood. He says its north of the pier, up on the hill.:

910 Bakersfield St
Pismo Beach, CA 93449-2404
http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?<br...+ca&country=us

Note: i had to break up the above url into 3 pieces. cut and paste them together or just do the map lookup yourself.

If you cannot make it by 6pm, please call me after 9am tomorrow (Friday) and let me know so I can have a good idea of what to expect. My number (bob_98sr5) is below.

CB and FRS INFORMATION
This is the final word, bird. Sorry for the confusion in past email and Yotatech posts:

CB = 12
FRS = 12. Security channel 12 (i think that is what it's called)

Keepin' it simple.

AIR'ING DOWN
When you get on the beach, pull off the road and air down all your tires to 15 psi. If you are slipping and sliding, you may want to air it down to 12 psi.

IMPORTANT NUMBERS
BOB_98SR5 (Bob) 213-435-2335
ROBINHOOD15000 (Steve) 925-784-2345
MERTZTR (Tom) 415-637-6755
MONKEYNUTS (Scott) 619-944-8650. He's there right now
PISMO OHV (805) 473-7223 (Recording)

On behalf of a somewhat embarassed group of organizers, thanks for your patience. Also, I'd like to thank Monkeynuts for going the extra mile and coordinating this directly from Pismo Beach via cellphone. Oh, and thanks Bud for Monkeynut's cellphone number via PM!

See you there at Pismo Beach!

Bob, Steve and Tom

Note: this has been posted on the http://www.4runners.org/misc/pismo.html website as well as via mass email.

Not a problem, I have two radios so I'll set one to 12/0 so we can talk to you when you get through the gate, and then we can either all go to 12/0 or you can borrow my spare.

Guys,

As of 11am today (8/9/00), there are approximately 150 spots remaining. Its a pretty good number, but again, it'll fill up so get there before 5pm. Steve was told taht i'll fill up by the early afternoon. A few of us who arrive early will double up on tickets and hopefully they won't catch onto it.

Anyways, get there as early as possible. Otherwise, we'll have to go w/ the contingency parking/shuttle plan for those of you who can't get the overnight pass.

Please call me at 213-435-2335 and let me know if can't make it before 5pm so we know how many tickets to double up, provided if we can do it.

Bob

Ok guys,

I'm outta here. I'm leaving Glendale, CA (Los Angeles Cty) right now at noon.

If you have any questions, call me first and then try Steve, Tom, and then Scott in that order.
