Maybe all us san diego people can plan to caravan up?
EDIT:
Got a reservation for the 9th to the 11th by using the Reserve America site. It says that check in time is 2pm. Are they that strict? If you get there earlier they wouldn't make you sit around until 2pm would they?

Guys,
Yes, now that the date is set, RESERVE ASAP!!! We made the big mistake of trusting those friendly Reserve America folks who said "awwww, don't worry, there's no need to reserve early!" Last year was a fiasco as a result.
Again, buy your tickets TODAY.

I'm guessing Bob just meant not to believe them if they said you don't need to make rsvp's far in advance.
I just used em too! All set for me!
(I've used them before for other places, no problems so far)

Where exactly are we to make reservations?
I was about to make some on reserveamerica and it warned me:
"This is NOT Oceano Campground at Pismo State Beach"
it said that I was booking at Oceano dunes svra and that:
"At Oceano Dunes SVRA, the campsites are on the beach in the OHV area."
So I'm assuming I have the right one, or are we in an actual campground?
As soon as I know for sure I'll book it.

Call (800) 444-7275 and reserve for Oceano Dunes SVRA (Beach camping)
Guys,
Ah, I knew this would come up again. My bad. Ok, here's the deal:
Call (800) 444-7275
Just say you want reservations for beach camping south of Pier 2. Also, you can reserve up to 10 spots (vehicles) per phone call. I'm going to purchase 2 tickets just in case.
Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area
Reservations: (800) 444-7275
What's confusing is that stupid Reserve America books the few (very few) assigned camping spots which are located *behind* the dunes. They are on the same beach, but they have little fire rings and tables. Dude, we don't need no stinkin' fire rings and tables!!! Anyways, I searched for availability on July 9-11, 2004 for the heck of it and it says its all booked up---which is the reason why some of you might be confused.
Cleared up now? Ok, THEN BOOK YOUR TICKET NOW!!!
Bob
edit: i removed the address above b/c it is not the actual campground but the administrative office of ODSRVA

The campsites are on the beach in the OHV area.

Jason (and anyone else reading Jason's comment above):
I recommend that you all make a reservation. You never know how busy the summer season can be, thus, I highly encourage you and everyone else to make a reservation. We did the last trip in early August and there was not a holiday within a few weeks before or after.

...steve, you're so cheap.
$20 one-way. $35 round trip. Rides must be booked 15 minutes in advance. Thank you for flying 98SR5 Airlines.
