Oct 21-22 TBH Baja 1000 "prerun"

We will be running baja in anticipation of spectating the baja 1000. Prerunning is officially for racers only, not to mention it is frightening having a prerunner coming up your ass, so we will be avoiding much of the actual course, but driving much of past courses.
We will meet at the gas station(left side a couple blocks before border) in Tecate(on the USA side) at 9:00am on saturday.
Insurance, gas(though i will be stoppiing at the Pemex), and some snacks etc. are available here.
We will head east, take the compadre trail, ppoossibly goinng to laguna hanson, and then down to ojos negros. lunch in ojos and then onto the course to look for a good spectating spot for the actual race. We will be camping somewhere saturday night.
Sunday we will have the option of heading towards san felipe, santo tomas(pacific coast) or back towards Tecate. This will be decided in a democratic manner by myself and then home.

If you've made it this far these are the vehical requirements-
Stock suspension okay.
maintained and ready for a road trip
A tow strap and tools.
spare parts and fluids, at least belts and hoses recommended.
Full size spare.
Compressor and patch kit recommended
Extra gas recommended
Extra Water for truck
A rear facing dust light is highly recommended.

Other stuff to bring

Camping equipment(it will get cold saturday night)
I'll bring a stove and a simple kitchen but if you want anything extra bring it
Food and snacks, we will be eating tacos for lunch
Cooler for beer and ice or sodas
Warm Clothing and good walking shoes.
I also recomend bringing an orange safety vest or cone

Make sure your load is well strapped down, keep an eye on your stuff as you drive.
i speak fluent spanish and have years of baja experience and will take care of stuff but I WILL NOT babysit. This is no trip for whiney bitches.

NO DRUGS!!!! i cant say that enough
This is not a race!!! There will be oncoming traffic, Cows, people, little kids, dogs, and god knows what else in the road. Take it easy!!! Save your ride, enjoy the scenery.

PM me if you want to go for sure, i'd like to have your cell # so we can be in contact when we are meeting on saturday morning.

Vamos pa' baja cabrones!

The trip sounds awesome! Wish I was close enough to go.

One question though... What's a "rear facing dust light?"

REar facing dust light are light that are rear facing, mine is mounted on my bed bar. they are ussually orange and mounted on the drivers side of the rig. in very dusty high speed stuff out here it is helpful for seeing a vehical stopped or slowing for an obstacle through thick dust.

Ohh, I see. It's to supplement your tail lights because of the extreme dust. That's cool to know

Made it back with no problems at all. Ikt ended up being just two trucks, both 4x4 which was nice, we ran the compadre trail, real high speed with some 50mph jumps:eek:
a section of the 1000 from ojos negros through alamo and out to the Mex 3(about 40 miles of sand silt rocks and other generally very difficult terrain)

Then up to Laguna hanson from ojos negros, camped and made Carne Tacos, yum!

Then down the 06 500 course, not challenging but slow and tippy and rocky, would be a challeng at race speed though. and down to hacienda santa veronica for a swim and a pinas colada!

Then only 3 hours to cross the border, well it couldnt be all perfect!
