crawler#976: Old Dandrea Ranch Road
Hey, today I tried Old Dandrea Ranch road, fun road. I started in Walked and took Big Bug Mesa road to it. I'm not sure how much farther I would have had to go to meet up with Senator Hwy again, but I went down it pretty far (a few miles and past the gate anyway), but I turned around because I wanted to go back up the Union Mtn. side and back to Senator Hwy. The Union road back to Senator Hwy is a lot more fun going up than down I discovered with all the rocks and stuff. But you were right, I did enjoy the Old Dandrea road, some beautiful scenery down there and fun hills. The round trip was about 48 miles back to my house, I live a few blocks from where Gurley and Senator intersect.

(hahaha, when I got home my mom was just leaving, and the first thing she said was, "so what did you break out there?", what makes it funnier is I don't think she knew i went 4wheeling, she must be a good guesser )

good deal! Sounds like your were over half way thru-
Imagine what that looked like prior to 1972- The Battle Flat fire burned for over a month up there- 36,000 acres total. It's not coming back to Pines either- it's all Scrub Oak, Gamble's Oak, and Manzanita. The flames were clearly visable from Sunset Point on I17- You went by Old Dandrea Ranch with in the first mile- the fire skipped over most of the drainage.
