CO Denver, Oct. 23 (Sat) Red Elephant Hill/Bill Morre Lake
This will be me and Adrian Flygt from Wisconsin. If anyone else wants to join us, feel free. Please read the trail descriptions to make sure it's not too difficult for you (Elephant is a 6).
When: Saturday Oct. 23
Trail: Red Elephant Hill/Bill Moor Lake
Meet: at 10:00 AM at the Morrison Rd. Park and Ride (on I-70) in the north western lot
I doubt there's snow up there right now, but it's supposed to snow on Saturday. Hopefully it won't be very much.

We could plan on Dinner in Idaho Springs afterwards, though I imagine cash is tight for Cheese. Tommy Knockers would be fun. But then, I don't think Cheese has been to Beau Jo's, so we might have to go there.

I could handle Beau Jo's. Money is nearing tightness, but I have a little more and optimism about a job. Plus I have pledged to spoil myself one weekend a month on nice supper.
I will drop Brent a note as we discussed.

Hmmm - just looked at the weather forcast for Friday... "Strong winds in the mountains will cause blowing and drifting snow with some spots above 9000 ft. receiving nearly two feet of snow.
Wonder how far up Bill moore you'll be able to make it.
I'm on the fence about this trip - especially with the weather - my MTR's are getting pretty worn - not sure how much snow wheeling I can do till I get some new treads.

John, do you think Crystal Mt. would be good, or is that too high, too?

It may just be me and Adrian and you as no one else has posted interest.
I'm bringing Logan and Peter. Donna and Hannah already had something planned for tomorrow.
Make sure you bring a lunch for yourself.

By the way, people can meet us where Brent will be if they way. He'll be the Starbucks (next to the gas station) at Downieville, exit 234 off of I-70.
If anyone has access to detailed weather information regarding snowfall up there today, please post it. So far, (as of 9:30), I don't think it's snowed.

I like what I have seen from Wunderground.com for zip 80452, Idaho Springs. 16% chance of snow and 33% humidity before 9am and 5% chance and ~16% humidity after noon with temp. low to mid 50s. Wind WSW ~15. West wind is good wind for temp. That's in the valley town, obviously on the mountain it might be worse but should not be a problem at all.
...Good weather for a long bumpy motorcycle ride.

Thanks for the weather report. It sounds like it should be nice tomorrow. If there's any snow, it might just be enough to make the scenery look pretty.

Matt, I will be thinking of you and the French Fry.
Mike, if you don't respond to this, I will call tonight, but I was thinking about just heading down with Brent and meeting you at the Starbucks. That way I am driving with someone most of the way and will increase my chances of staying awake.
I am still a go for tomorrow, I just think it will be better on my end to head south in a group.

Okay, then I'll go to the park-n-ride, (just in case someone shows up), but then head out soon after 10:00 to meet you guys up at Starbucks. (Get some sleep tonight so you don't fall asleep at the wheel! )

I'd say come join us, but I'm not sure that's wise if you're low on tread. Traction is pretty important on Red Elephant Hill. But it would be really fun to wheel with you tomorrow.
If the snow is too deep, like I said, we may go to Yankee Hill instead.
