My first Toy

So last week I bought my first Toy. However, I am not that new to Toys. My one brother has had several and another bought one for his 18yo.

First things first, the TRUCK! 97 T-100 xtra cab, 3.4L 5vz, auto, 4x4, 263K mi on the clock. Green and silver with either a green or grey interior (too dirty currently to tell, LOL). Pendaliner and a broken tailgate missing the cables.
Bonuses: 6" BUCK knife, 25' FAT MAX tape, almost new push broom.

PAID: <$1000

ME: 29yo male, married, shadetree mechanic starting a repair shop with a friend. My FT job is quality in the package printing business (Hershey's bags and such.) I grew up around GM's, then got into VW's which is still my main love. I tend to go through cars quickly, but I have desired a Toy for quite some time for 4x4 purposes.

My current collections includes
78 Ford F150 (was Gramps truck, to be restored)
3- 81 VW Scirocco S (1 summer driver, 2 to make 1 turbo street beast)
81 VW Rabbit (trading for one of the above Sciroccos)
85 VW Cabriolet (wife's summer fun car)
88 VW Jetta coupe (FS to fund the Toy)
97 Toy T-100 (the new toy, the reason I'm here)
04 Chevy Aveo (wife's daily)

PICS FINALLY!!

Mileage PROOF

And finally, HI!!

First thing i would do is change all plugs wires coolant oil. Just to make it all new that motor's pretty darn dirty it looks like but looks like it wasnt to bad taken care of if it has 263k miles.

Could probably use new timing and fuel filter n fuel pump to help you get better gas mileage. I personally would rebuild whole motor and new front right fender nd have a great truck!!

Nice truck though.

Motor is dirty but not as bad as I expected it to be. It actually runs great! Tune-up and timing kit will be in the works once I get to drive it a bit.
It currently is "drivable" vehicle #2 and we are in the need of a second vehicle in my house so catching up on maintenance is a must but needs to be done a step at a time.

I'm not too worried about the ding in the fender. The truck is going to be my fun truck, my fancy truck is going to be the 78 F150. Thanks for the nice comments tho.

That is a good deal for $1K. I just bought 2WD 94 last week but was beat to crap for $1K. Beater truck for my 16 year-old until he can afford something else then it goes to full farm truck mode.
I did find a minor but expensive design flaw with the 94's...Speedo- and E-brake cables cross directly above where exhaust seems to fail first burning both cables out. $100 for speedo-cable+$40 for E-brake cable+$40 for speedo-drive gear that was stessed out in process.
I might be better off with 100K more miles lol.

Well, found out this weekend that this beast tows AWESOME! Had a 96 Passat on our car dolly and it did great! But I do need to do balljoints. Probably only do lowers for now and then when I can afford spacers do the uppers.

Still need to change the oil and check the timing belt too. But did replace the bad u-joint and it drives very nice!!
