For those of you interested in HID projector retrofits
Hey guys, I'm designing some circuit boards for the E46 BI-Xenon projectors. These will handle the main power and solenoids. I'm doing this to make it easier on people that have the infamous 3 wire solenoid projectors. They can be a pain in the butt if you're doing wire webbing... let me know if you're interested, these won't be available right now, but I'm hopefully going to start etching these in the next month or so. The circuit box will also come with a custom wiring harness designed for your specific vehicle. These are for negative switch vehicles only at the moment. I still need to decide pricing, but that's kind of what I wanted to find out. This has to be cost effective for me and also you, the consumer. How much would you guys be willing to pay for a complete wiring solution for E46 BI-Xenon projectors? Thanks!!
I believe most Japanese vehicles are negative switch. My '91 4Runner is. I'd prefer to do H4 connections only at the beginning, but I'm going to work with other types of plugs so more people can enjoy HID retrofits.

I would be hand soldering these. I have a friend who is also proficient at soldering that would be doing this stuff with me. I could do the whole retrofit if you guys wanted, but you can just buy the harness with solenoid/power circuit box seperately. I'll get pictures when I finish the first one. I will be making these to where you would just have basically color coded connectors that you'd need to hook up yourself, while the electronics remain inside a sealed box. I'll make it to where the relays will plug in on the outside of the box for ease of replacement. I've already started drafting designs for the printed circuit board, but need to draft out the actual housing. I just want to help people with the tedious task of wiring the things. I get really focused on things and don't really mind tedious work at all, which is why I decided to do this. I'm just testing the waters, I'll make a few and see if you guys want them.

Folks have used this wiring harness to make the Bi-Xenons work in a Toyota, including the high beam indicator:

Basically a plug and play alternative.

im using that to power my hids.
However the relays on that harness are starting to corrode it has that white chalky blue stuff. i think its elecrolysis?

The Bosch E46 Bi-xenon projectors are different than the standard 2 wire bi-xenon projector though... It's a pretty complex circuit for the hobbyist to wire the 3 wire solenoid w/o having it meltdown after a while. I have had my "high beams" on for hours driving in dark canyons and the solenoids barely get warm. If they are wired incorrectly or with haste, you will see a major problem after a few actuations. I'm just making this so it's easier for people using this particular projector to use it as they (E46 projectors) are pretty cheap and easy to come by...

Hello,
I'm new here and I'm looking to do a HID bixenon retrofit install on my '95 MB E320. I looked at a couple of projectors (Hella E55 and Bosch E46). I'm inclined to use the E46 but have some questions:
Does anyone know why the E46 bixenons are different? Why 3 wires instead of 2? How much current does the solenoid draw?
Thanks!
Sergio

I'd definitely be interested. I've been researching for a little while and still have no clue as to what I think would be a fair price so I'm kinda just interested what everyone else thought. It sure would save me a lot of headache (and heartache if it didn't work)
