Strange wiper switch issue?

Ok guys, just picked up a 91 runner V6,here's the issue. When I turn on the intermitten wiper, nothing, when I try and use the washer fluid nothing, when I turn on the wiper to regular wipers work. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a fuse somewhere that controls thw washer fluid or could it be a bad switch at the steering column? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Check that the washer fluid pump is getting power, if it is, most likely the pump is bad.

Thanks, I found the problem. Two broken wires on the circut board inside the steering column. Just re-soldered the wires to the board and she works just like new.

Gonna have to check that myself, having the exact same problem with mine. No intermittent & no washer but the washer motor works & the high low wipers work. Same with the back except it's completely dead back there with a good wiper motor. I wish I was an electrical whiz, I think that's more important than being able to twist a wrench today.

Did you happen to take any pics. of the board & it's location?

Edit: I have my steering column apart right now & I don't see a circuit board unless it's a teeny tiny one up at the base of the wiper switch under that plastic cap? It'd be awesome to have my delays & washer back, that's a big deal for me.

Any help finding this "board" would be greatly appreciated.

wow, cool...never mind about my question. I just pulled the steering wheel & removed the entire switch assembly & sure enough, there's a broken wire on the circuit board. I'll solder that back on & see how mine behaves & post back a big thank you if that fixes it.

Cheers hiluxwanabe!

Edit: well, not being the sharpest tack in the box when it comes to electrical stuff I soldered the two wires that were broken off back to the board & I got it backwards I guess. Still no intermittent wipers or washer (even though the washer motor works) but now when I hit the washer button the wipers up front move & if the rear wiper switch is in the "ON" position it'll work too! lol, that's the only way it works though...I guess I need a whole new switch assembly.

dang it.
