Light Bars and CB's
I'm looking to hook up my Light Bar w/ lights and my CB as well. But I don't want wires all over the place and looking like crap, so I was thinking of making a custom center console that has a built in slot for the CB to sit in and a hole for my toggle switch for the Light bar. Any Ideas? I have a 1993 Toyota Pickup Extended cab.

If it's one of the smaller CB's a lot of people put them in the ash tray slot.
I think you should be able to run the lighting wires through the inside of the bar and have them come out at the bottom, and in through the back of the cab. Might take some drilling and a couple small rubber grommets.

I tried to fit it in the slot in the dash and its just a little bit to big but I might be able to come up with something. I eventually want to install a cd player to replace the stock cassette player. I could put the wires down through the light bar I was just trying to avoid drilling holes because I live in Maine and we get a lot of snow and rain.

There are water drain holes already in the floor. Pull up the carpet a little at the corners and there will be a 1"-2" hole with a rubber cap. Pull the cap up a little and wire it in through there. Or make a hole in the cap. Thats what I did on my '93 when I had lights on the roll bar.

There isn't too much room inside these little trucks to be mounting accessories, unfortunately. You could always trim the dash pieces to fit. I've also seen them mounted on the glove box door, under the steering wheel on the steering column, mounted on the passenger side of the shifters, etc. One I haven't seen but have thought of for when I mount mine is in the front of the drivers seat, in between your legs with the controls facing up. It really all depends on how anal you are about how things look.
As for the switch, there are little tabs in the dash you can pry out gently with a screwdriver. All you have to do is trim the plastic wall along the back of the tab and drill the hole.

Wait until you have a CD player, then mount the CB under the radio..
As for the wires, use a hot soldering iron or screwdriver and put a few holes in the rubber grommets, then run your wires through that.
