blinker idea: winter project
back when i drove my '90 lumina i remebered seeing stuff on ebay about how you could make the rear turn signals blink in a series in the direction of where you are turning. the rear tails had 3 individual lights on them, so if you were turning right, the three lights would fire one at a time left to right and then start over again. make sense?
well, i'm thinking of doing something similar to this over the winter while i'm stuck inside, but i'm going to do it for front turn signals, have 3 or 4 lights and mount them to the little metal fill piece under the headlights on my 3rd gen 4runner.
my question is, how do you do something like this? if anyone has any links for me to read up on this or would just like to rattle off some ideas on here that would be nice. or even what to search for on google, i have no idea what this would be called. tried looking up stuff on lumina turn signals on ebay but didn't find what they used to have.
thanks everyone, electrical gurus rock!

Yah the early Cougar sequential system (68-74) works well, but good luck in finding them. Used the system in my 68 Mustang GT, even added 3 more tail lights on each side. The control unit mounted in the trunk, about the size and weight of an old WallStreet PowerBook. 30 amp fuse if I remember correctly. I would probably look into something more current, JC Whittney perhaps.

It's OK Elton, the lights won't know the difference. The only sequential controls I know of were made for the tail lights, I'm sure they could work for front (AKA Knight Rider) style.

65 tbirds has sequential turn signals, as does the front of brucets's tjm bumper!
on the 65, they were mechanical. a motor turned and made contact for each element in a series.
