Drain transmission fluid from pan.
There is a bolt on the bottom of the pan that has a 5/8 bolt in it. I used a funnel and a gallon milk jug to drain the transmission fluid into. I used cardboard to lay under the vehicle because the amount of transmission fluid.
Take pan off.
There are 19 bolts that go all the way around the pan that you need a 11mm socket with an extension on to get them all off. Once all removed use a putty knife and go around pan gently cutting old gaskget out. Care full not to gouge the pan and take you time. Once the pan is free the dip stick part comes apart about half way up and just pulls very easy. The pan does take a little bit of moving around and time to get it to come out but it does come down without taking anything else apart. I got the front down then the back. Watch the dip stick arm because that gets hung up.
Remove the solenoid.
The #1 (or A) solenoid is right next to #2 solenoid and is on the drivers side, back of the transmission, first one on the wires closest to the front. The wire has a push tab and then comes out easy, should be no pulling on the wire. A 11mm bolt holds the solenoid in place and should be kept clean and in a safe place.

*Toyota has updated the solenoid so there is a new part when you go to the dealer that does not look the same as you old one.

Insert new solenoid.
The new solenoid should just slide right in without any force and plugs back in and bolts to same spot with the same bolt.
Clean the area.
This part tool a long time to do because you have to be careful and make sure to clean all the old gaskget off of where the pan goes back on. If like mine it will be a pink glue type gasket that I found easiest to clean off using my finger nail. This was the hardest part of the whole thing.

I put the pan back up into the spot that it goes without the gaskget because it takes a lot of moving around before it goes back in there. I then put the gaskget on making sure all the holes lined up correctly. The holes will only line up one way and it has to be right to get the seal. Small hands are a plus when it comes to this. Get 2 bolts in opposite ends of the pan started, that way it is help in place. I then went around the pan just putting the bolts in but not tighting them at all. Just like putting on a tire you start on one side then go to the other all the way around. I started on the front to the back and then did driver to passenger sides. Checking that the gaskget was hanging out the same all the way around.
Fill with transmission fluid.
Looking in the book or going to your local store they will tell you that you only need 2 quarts of transmission fluid, THIS IS NOT TRUE! If you only use 2 quarts when you go for a drive you will notice that first gear does not go in right away from dead stop, or what is called "slipping". I used 6 quarts to get mine to the correct line on the transmission dip stick. There is a line for both cold and hot.
