Commando 870 - Special Holiday $20 off sale! From Dec 1st - 14th ONLY
Ho, ho, ho!
Got a lot of valuable junk in your trunk? Got a trick sound system? Or ya got a gold plated bat that you don't want stolen because it's purely for "self defense"? Well, there's no better way to protect it than the Commando 870 alarm system
Given the upcoming holidays, what better gift for the wife or girlfriend to buy you than a Commando 870 alarm system? As you know, the stock Toyota alarm systems are only good for thwarting overweight squirrels. So I called the good folks at Commando Alarms to see if they'd be willing to cut our YT members a break on their normal pricing. Ryan at Commando says he is willing to discount the Commando 870 alarm system that many of us have installed.
So here it is:
FM-870
$139.99 + $8 shipping
http://www.commandoalarms.com/itm30032.htm
You must mention that you are part of the "Yotatech" group.
One very important rule: Commando will only ship to the billing address of the credit card that is being used for payment. If you need it to go elsewhere, you will need to pay Commando with paper funds or PayPal. They accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Check, Money Order and PayPal.
One thing is that certain late model Toyotas have an engine immobilizer chip. There is an additional piece that needs to be purchased which will add a little to the cost. I'll post that price once I get a response from Ryan.
And here are two good threads on the C870 alarm system:

I highly recommend this alarm system. Very effective, reasonably priced, and it works well And also in the interest of transparency, I am receiving absolutely nothing from organizing this special holiday buy!

bump for the morning
The add on part for those of you who have engine immobilizers is $13.50. No additional shipping charge is tacked on

matt,
i bought an extra one last year to install in my wife's 95 camry. it was almost identical to the install on my 98 4runner. i didnt install it b/c we ended up buying another car for her
of note, lance (goodtimes) installed it in his girlfriend's corolla. i guided him through the install and it was almost identical to the install
the only major differences, of course, was the color of the wiring.

That thing is sweet! Mabe next summer when I have the cash to burn.. My current alarm remote stoped working. Guess that's what you get for $40 though. Worked for like 4 years anyway but that one is super cool.

Bottom line, it's not "hard", but time consuming. If you're not comfy with electrical work, it can take longer. And speaking of electrical work... you should REALLY solder the key connections (ignition and starter). Those aren't something you should trust to a crimp-on "T" connector.
Side note... if you get this, think about adding the temperature sensor. It allows you to do things like program the alarm for things like "if the temp falls below 20f, start and run the engine for 10 minutes every 3 hours". It also lets you see the temp inside the truck on the 2-way remote.
