What's the best insurance for a Toyota Tacoma?

I'm looking for some quality insurance coverage for a 2012 Toyota Tacoma that my friend just sold me.

I'm living in New York State. I'm a single male and this won't be the car I'll be using everyday to commute. I'll most likely use it on weekends only.

According to motortrend, I can expect to pay $1300+ yearly on insurance. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2012/..._of_ownership/

Is this true? I kind of want to be a cheap skate and get the cheapest possible coverage (since I won't be driving it much).

Thoughts?

Search using your choice of search engine for auto Insurance in the city you live.

So many factors play into rating a policy .

i have learned to never skimp on insurance coverage.

I pay around $ 3,600 a year for 5 vehicles I insure one that has not had a engine for going on 3 years

thanks wyoming9

i actually spent all of yesterday getting quotes

i found that the cheapest insurance came from a website called www.4autoinsurancequote.com at $66/month

unfortunately, I don't really know if I trust them because they seem to be a small company and don't really have a lot of Yelp reviews, so I don't think I will use them

can u tell me what insurance company you use, wyoming?

other companies I got quotes from

All state - $83/month
State Farm - $79/month
Progressive - $79/month
GEICO - $88/month
eSurance - $88/month

I think I might use state farm. they have the best reviews I've seen and they are the cheapest

Are you talking just liability? Then it doesnt really matter. Go cheapest.
Long as you meet state requirements. Its all about having them pay for what you tear up rather than yourself.

Full coverage is a dif story. Gieco has done me right for many years.

Right now I am with Farmers .

I was going through an independent agent but they closed the local office and moved an hour away.

An Independent Insurance Agency can most times give you the best deal because the can rate you on many different companies so you get the best coverage at the best price.

Since I swap vehicles I like doing things in person my new agent is close by.

If your young and have no assets to lose one can get buy on cheap insurance.

The thing with insurance quotes the quoted policies must all be so very close or one is trying to compare things that are miles apart in coverage.

Then the fact I am getting more mature impacts my insurance rates.
