Transmission Compatibility ?'s, 90/87/82 (22R(E) series motor)

This may be a simple question but i need to have this cleared up. I have a 1990 4Runner, it's a 22RE/auto, it needs a tranny. I do have a spare auto, but the plugs are different and it is in supposed working condition when pulled out of a 87 22re truck which kinda-sorta worries me. I also have a spare L52 5spd from my old '82 4x4 longbed (22R). My question is will the L52 bolt to the 90's 22RE? I would assume so seeing how it is off a 22R(E) series motor? I already know about all the hassle's it it to swap an auto to a stick, all the other parts involved so please . I am at the end of my rope with the auto in it now and its either a 5spd (mine or i will look for one in the bone yard that will work?) or a Chevy drive train (4.3L) .

And again, please stay on topic to my question, if you are going to bash me about my Chevota plans or about auto/stick swap, don't post.

Thanks

Yes, you can bolt up the tranny. All R series engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern no matter the year or tranny. There will be differences in tranny length and thus crossmember location and driveshaft length with the older (shorter) L series trannies though.

thank you for the info, do you by any chance know how much of a difference in length it is?
