took the yota wheeling for the first time today

Damn these trucks rock even stock! Finally found a legal wheeling spot in RI today (well legal to me and a few friends anyways, it's my buddies dads property). The yota astounded me and my chevy driving buddies!

Got bogged in a mudhole and thought for sure that a chevy may have to pull me out. a little rocking and couple pushes and she pulled through! My buddies wouldn't even try the hole. she would have pulled through n the first shot if I had stayed on it, but I wasn't sure of what was under the mud and the truck is my dd.

I am now a true convert from the ford camp

haha I was thinking of air shocks for the sag, but not sure if they will hinder rear axle articulation (which is damn good stock). I wish i could have gotten pics, but it was too dark.

And that hole wouldn't have been an issue with decent mud tires lol not my wore out cheapy a/ts

I put cargo coils in the rear of mine to correct sag. Really happy with the results. Not sure about effect on articulation.

I don't, but they are made by Moog. I've seen them marketed as "cargo coils" and "heavy duty springs". Got mine at Carquest for ~$120.

Congrats on your wheeling, give your Runner a good cleaning after that and you'll avoid a lot of problems. I have yet to take my Runner wheeling, but I look forward to it.

Upon getting my 91 4runner from a buddy who never wheeled it I immediately took it out to get a fresh coat of mud. It's stock except for the bumper, but since that doesn't really affect it's driving or performance I don't count it as an upgrade. After seeing the 4runner after I went out in it the first time my friend did a couple of looks between me and my yota and just shook his head and laughed. His gf asked him why he never went out and wheeled it like that and his response was "I thought I'd break it...damn"

Congrats on your awesome new fun machine!!!

haha yeah man!! I was hesitant to take it wheeling at first due to it being a 20 year old truck. after reading up on them at this site, i figured she could take it.
These are some great trucks, i just wish i hadn't had the "domestic blinders" on for so long lol
of course now dodges are built in mexico, chevys in canada, and toyotas in the US

Good call! I actually use that to mess with my buddies at the parts stores. ask them to look up shackles for a 90 4runner. drives em nuts till they figure it out.
