I've got too much time on hand today.
1) Take an old filter, and any sharp pointy object. The size is personal preference, but if you cannot see through the hole it makes, DO NOT USE!
2) Replay "The Psycho" (Hitchcock) in your head and let it flow out of you in bitter rage.
3) Test to make sure that air and dirt will pass through with ease.
4) Save the extra cash aquired from this DIY for oil, MAF and a complete engine rebuild in the near future.
Guaranteed to increase flow by 200%. HP gains of 50%.*
Send feedback via PM.
And by the way......YOU'RE WELCOME!
*HP gains not typical

Maybe they don't filter that well but I ran one on my modded Eclipse and it kept even fine particulate from hitting the turbo or I'm assuming since my turbo's vanes had nary a nick even after 4 years of driving and racing.
The reality is the better the flow of a filter the less it will filter but I've never heard of a filter destroying a motor. Alot of it's hype or anti-hype if you want to call it and K&Ns simply aren't garbage or we'd have piles of evidence over the last 30 years.
