Lift Jack

I was wondering what kind of lift jack I should buy for my 4th Gen. 4Runner. Stock one is good, but only when you are on the way somewhere. For in garage works I think Lift Jack is better, plus it may lift all front or rear, not only one wheel. My 4Runner is 2500kg - 5500lbs. I've seen Lift Jacks for 2, 2-1/4 and 2-1/2 tons.

A 3 1/2 ton floor jack is more than sufficient.

I use a two ton. (4000lbs) Rember you are not lifting the whole truck. Buy a nice one that the handle is also twisted to lower the jack w/o removing it. Craftsman has an aluminim one that isn't bad. All steel ones are less expensive and work just as well. Mine is all steel. Once you have a floor jack you will wonder how you lived without one.

Make sure you also buy some jack stands. There are some SUV type (taller) but I bought 6 ton units (not for the weight capacity but the footprint and height) from Walmart for $25.
