Disc Brake Job Gone Bad Grinding- Help please

i put new front pads and rotors on my fathers FJ. He got EBC green stuff 7000 series pads.

the front has been making a grinding noise and when i inspected the rotor, at least the outside passenger side is getting majority etched and destroyed. there is a build up of material on where the pad meets the rotor as well. the other side is fine on the outside and i could not inspect the insides due to the dust shields.

do these pads need to go on in a certain position? even tho i found no documentation saying so? its the only reason i can conclude. im going to pick it up from him while he is a work on monday and get it to my garage to inspect it further, switch around pad order and see if i cant get the grinding to stop before I put on new parts.

any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you YT.

I'm definitely no expert, but on my '92 the pads wouldn't fit in the caliper correct. I then realized that there was a difference between the inside and outside pad. The difference was the pad wear indicators I think, they looked like small clips. Maybe just check and see. Although they were the same thickness so it shouldn't cause grinding.

Which brake system does it have?

The new system (4 port, digital master cylinder) is NOT shadetree-mechanic friendly.
