clutch play problem?

recently i have noticed a lot of play in my clutch peddle. it seems that there is a dead spot when you first push in the peddle. then you must push the it clear to the floor to switch gears and it seems a little tougher to get into gear. i am thinking it is the slave cylinder, but not real positive. any ideas?

first thing i would do is check your maste cylinder fluid level and bleed the system its the easiest thing in the world to bleed. Then get a friend to hold the clutch right to the floor while you are looking at the slave cylinder, watch to see if it starts moving out very slowly this would either mean your slave cylinder is gone or your lines have a leak in them again easy to figure out, just pump the clutch and see if any fluid comes out of the lines. Next go to a auto parts store and buy a slave cylinder, there only like 30 bucks and put it on it should probably fix your problem, but make sure you bleed your system very good any air destroys both the master and slave cylinders. if this still doesnt work then its probably something a lot more serious ie. your master cylinder or your clutch, how many clicks are on it?
