Bought TRD for my v6prerunner. Figure, its from toyota so it should be good. It says it filters better than stock. But common sense tells you that more air flow means more STUFF gets through. Oh well, still happy with it. Runs smother, shifts smother and seems to spool up faster. Can hear it sucking air from cold start if i'm in the passanger seat with the door open.
Who really makes these filters for TRD?

I have seen one of those UNI filters. Very interesting design indeed.

I sell a Battez air filter for 2nd gens and 3rd gens, 3rd gen pictured below. It's washable and never needs oil. It's imported from Japan and runs around $120 at the discount price. I haven't seen any testing on it, but it's not cheap, that's for sure.
Here's the description I have:
High flow design, reusable Piper Cross Foam filters that out-perform OE and aftermarket foam filters, yet provide superior filtration qualities for maximum protection from dirt, dust, oil, mud and other harmful elements. Rinse clean using water for easy maintainance with no special oils or treatments required.
Might as well throw this into the mix and cause more confusion.

I use the paper filter and pop off the airbox door. I use a 1 inch c-clamp to hold the filter tight against the airbox. I'm too lazy to do the deckplate mod and I realy don't want to chop my airbox. The only downfall is it makes the intake very loud, as does the deckplate I would imagine.

Where did you get the TRD cone and how much was it? I've been looking for one for a '95 4runner. I don't trust the no-name things that can be found on ebay that are a cone style filter and a mass-air-flow connector.
