5-speed or Automatic: which one do you have?
Guys and the few, but ultra hip 4runner women (notice I didn't say "gals" ):
I'm very curious to know what the % breakdown is between 5-speed and automatic owners, regardless of generation. I'm guessing it'll be about 20% 5-speed and 80% automatic. Let's see if my guess is on the money or not. So vote!
Thanks,
Bob

in a previous life i had a 5spd 91 4runner. now i have an auto 94 pickup.
i miss my runner. my 5spd owned even if i blew through 2 clutches and messed up the synchros twice in 35,000 miles. (eventually we got rid of her because of an accident and she was never the same after that) I remember driving in an 92 auto runner and wondering "where's the torque?" I was never a big fan of the 3.0.

I got a 5 speed here. I really love the burnouts and the way the ladies oooh and awww and the shifting skills. Before I got my 2nd toy (the 90 runner) i had an auto '84 F-150 with a 351 cleveland with a C-6 trany and i hated it. i just love the 5 speeds.

My 4Runner and my Xterra are both Automatics. I really wanted to get a 5-Speed Xterra, but I couldn't find a single 4x4 5-Speed within 75 miles of me. Whatever my next truck is (Hopefully one of the new FJs if they change it a bit and make it affordable ) it will be a Manual.

Mine's an automatic I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age ......LOL!!
I like manual but have replaced my share of pressure plates, clutch cables...etc..
My 93' was an automatic and I never had any problems with it. Just regular fluid changes was all it needed.
If I would get another 4X4 to use strictly for off road it would be manual.

My '91 and '99 were standard 5-speeds. The '03 is only available in an auto; did the V8 so I could get the new 5-speed tranny.
The '00 Celica is a 6-speed manual. Zoom.

I have a 5spd and probably will never get an automatic. I used to love to drive my mom's automatic Isuzu rodeo but now i cant stand to drive an automatic, too boring. Besides its fun teaching girls how to drive your stick shift lol.
