22re timing chain help please!

The chain will have play in it if you got the valve cover off and engine off due to the fact the Chain tensioner is not working, for it requires oil pressure to tension up the chain. But There is prolly a specific clearnace dictated by toyota but i'm not sure what it is. If its not making any noise leave it be. If your rebuilding a motor your supose to get a new chain anyway thats not stretched from engine wear so it should be fine.

to check it properly, remove it and have it completely stretched out, then the maximum distance between 17 links should be 5.79'' (147.00mm)
this is for a 84 pickup

Thanks for the answers guys, I end up ordering a kit for engnbldr.com and I'm waiting for it to come in to put in back together I tore it all down all ready and I'm going to spray paint my oil pan while itself too.
Any of you guys ordered from them? And how long did it take for it to be shipped to you? Thanks for the help. |
