maybe theres something wrong and meineke are waiting for you to have a serious problem so you'll bring it back to them??? thats why they didnt tell you...? and from the sounds of it, you should NOT be operating that motor unless absolutely necessary.

Ok.... I don't know if this could be linked, but sometimes after I drive it at significant revs, guessing about 4000-4500rpm (don't have a tach), for a while (5-35 min), it gives me a check engine light coded for "lean air fuel mixture". Then when I stop, turn the engine off and back on, the light goes away. I don't know if this will help anyone, but I appreciate any advice.

Dosn't sound like a timing chain problem to me, just replaced a broken timing chain guide on my 22R, and that sounds completely different. Sounds more like a valve, but like previous posters said, they usually quiet down when the engine warms up. After listening to it again, I'd check for a leaky exhaust manifold gasket.

Dude dude, just go take the valve cover off and confirm that it is/isn't the t-chain or valvetrain.

im guessing and im not much of a wench anymore but i would say its either a loose broken tc tensioner
or broke valve spring.

ease the valve cover off and just inspect really closely and do like the other brother asked. top or bottom more noisy

i would not be driving it until you isolate what it is. its not good. but things can always get worse

parking mine quickly saved me lots of green by not killing a head.

good luck with it brother. johnny

well possibly check your exhaust manifold
i would assume if it were rod knock and you have taken it 3000 miles you would have threw a rod or something along those lines in that time
or it could be a really worn lower rod bearning and it could be causing piston slap because of the excess play in the bearings
