22R transmission compatibility
My friend has a 1989 toyota 2wd, 22r with a 4-sp
he wants a 5-sp, but the guy at the junkyard only had one from an EFI truck, he said it would not work.
Is this true? If so why, they're the same motor.

measure the distance between the shifters and the bellhousing. dunno about 2wd but some 4wd models used a longer tranny so your hole in the floor won't work. other then that it will bolt in and work if your shifter is able to be shifted.

Yes, if it came off an R motor it will bolt to another one. The EFI trucks had a different trans, but they still bolt up.
