1984 Toyota 2wd different diff

1984 Toyota 2wd different diff.
Hi. Last year I changed my differential. It being a different differential,
I could not make alignment marks with the driveshaft.
I,ve now herd alignment marks are important.
What kind of problems will I have with installing a different diff with no alignment?
Thank you.

Ummmm - don't understand. What do you mean you changed the differential? Put in a limited slip or a locker? Changed to whole third member?

Sorry. I changed the entire differential carrier, with one of the same.
I did that because the old one was making a howling sound
due to warn gears.

the alignment marks you are supposed to make are on the slip yoke of the drive shaft in case it gets seperated after removing it. the position of the driveshaft to the flange on the diff is irrelevant as long as it bolts up.

Thank you very much. My manual confused the hell out of me.
