Weber 34/34 too rich
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forumns, but actually read them all the time - finally registered an account. I have a completely stock 1987 2 wd, 22r carb'd. I live in southern california where I do not have any issues with elevation. I recently purchased a weber 34/34 ( i have read it is actually a solex) from JT outfitters. Installed it, ran power to the choke, plugged off all vacuum except for distr. advance and I am running way too rich. I am strong on the vacuum, idles great, runs decent when warm. At startup with choke closed, it takes about 15 cranks before it fires, than spits a glob of raw fuel out the exhaust. When warm, it bogs down if you floor it. If I go easy on the gas I can drive ok. Timing is set at 5 degrees btdc. Spoke to Jose at Interco and he sent me a larger main - 140? I think I should be going down on the main and idle jets? Any help would be appreciated. I have read some of the post regarding similar issue, but no one has really nailed down what size jets they either recommend or actually installed to correct the carb. Also I am using the stock fuel pump with no regulator. Do I really need a regulator with the stock pump?
Thanks
