Warm engine starting issue
Got myself a 92 pickup with a 22re a few months ago, truck has a "brand new" engine rebuild about 1K on the new engine (mostly by me), put in by a guy who builds engines; prior to my purchase. Thing runs perfectly smooth. Here is my issue.
Initially when I got it, it started without concerns. Weather got a little cold and I think the cold start injector might have issues because in very cold weather I would crank it, it would sound as if it turned over for a split second, and then die. I fixed this problem by tapping the accelerator just at that turn over point, and that worked just fine.
Now, I have an issue with the engine not starting when warm, "warm" meaning after having been driven for some time. I can turn off the engine and quickly restart it, but if it sits for maybe an hour or less. It won't just start on the first crank, the starter chugs for 5-8second before the engine turns over. At that point, there has been a squeal of a belt slipping, I changed the belts and the squeal is gone, but the instant turn-over is still an issue.
I find it odd that it will turn over cold on the first starter chug, I took it to the dealer, asked for a complete eval (not specifically mentioning the warm engine start concerns) and they didn't find any problems. I assumed the would have checked for computer coded indications of engine concerns.
What are your thoughts? I have thought it could be injector/thermostat issues, but i am a little lost.

Might give the fuel pump test jumper a quick try:

My '85 used to do something like that and the test jumper fixed it. Ultimately it started wking fine on it's own.

I think fuel pump or it could be the thermostat. Sometimes if a thermostat is bad or not strong enough the vehicle will not start right away because it thinks it is overheated. I would check the thermostat then the fuel pump.
