I have a 95 4runner 3.0 V6 with a 5in rough country lift and a 2in spring spacer in the rear, 33 12.50 general tire grabbers, 15in dick cepek dc2's and want to do some upgrading to the truck since it is so slow and has terrible mpg's what are some suggestions as to what i can do to my truck?

cold air intake, headers, cam and open up the exhaust with 2in or 2 1/2in pipe high flow cat and a flow master or other high flow muffler. Depends on what you wana spend check out www.lcengineering.com they got everything you can imagine for preformance products.

stay away from LCE, good products and service, but absolutely HORRIBLE pricing...way overpriced for my taste.



first off, what kinda gears you got in your diffs?

either 4.10's or 4.56's or 4.88's....


are you Auto or Manual?

if that's your 4runner in the avatar with the 5" lift and 2" coil spacer...its sitting REALLY low....mine has a 4" lift and no spacer on 285/75s and it's taller than that.


not much you can do to the 3vz. i don't recommend headers because the cost to benefit ratio isn't the best..like $600 or so for a few more ponies.

eliminate your crossover like i did, get a hi-flow cat, straight through muffler like magnaflow, and 2.25" exhaust. as well as a cold air intake. and maybe even advance your timing a few degrees (i believe?...been a while lol)

i have PLENTY of power, in fact i have to be careful not to speed on the highways...i frequently look at my GPS and it says 85-90...and i don't even notice.

my motor is rebuilt, bored .020 over, no crossover, 2.25" exhaust, no cat, K&N intake with a crappy K&N filter, 4.56 gears and heavy 10ply 285/75 Toyo's....i'm not gonna lie, it's pretty quick. but only toyota i have to really compare it too is my old '86 with the 22r...it was a dog...

Im with camo on the priceing with lc but great products man and my moto is you get what you pay for. Buying cheap products is like sayn you would rather have autozone parts than replaceing things with oem toyota parts. I buy all toyota parts for replaceing things and lc or other equally made performance products. Just my .02 on the subject


p.s and if you still have stock gearing that would be the first thing i would change.

indeed you do get what you pay for, but not many people can afford something is like 150% MORE than the price of the SAME PRODUCT from a parts store.

i make $200 a week, with a $400rent and $50 electric bill....i don't have much money to spare.

I wasnt tryn to flaunt money i in no way that type person growing up with a just a mom i didnt have much of anything man guess thats why i want the best now but im with ya on the bills man. I save up till i got enough to get the oem parts and we dont have an o'reilley's where im at we have autozone 20 mins away and my the dealership aint to much farther. Thats why i said the first time depends on what he wanted to spend.

hey camo31 10.50 how much did it cost you to do all your upgrades and how much more power did you get out of it?

Before you start modifying, make sure everything is working properly. Has the O2 sensor been replaced? #1 reason gor crappy fuel mileage. Also, check for intake & vacuum leaks. Next, check for any stored ECU codes. Also, with lift &vacuum large tires, did you regear your diffs? If not, that would explain the poor performance & fuel economy.

the diffs are what ever the truck came stock with its an automatic and that picture is before we put the spacer in the rear also i forgot to mention i put a flow master from the cat back not the full system

Google a gear ratio website for what factory gears your ride is equipped with, that will be a start. Re-gear, most important factor in get up and go. Next, a high flow air filter like k&n( drop ins fine, intake better) Anything from LC Engineering is great! U do get what you pay for. Eliminate that crossover like Camo did, that makes the 3.0 soo much better, less likely to blow head gaskets too. Headers with no crossover and and a throaty muffler would make that lil' rig bad. Gears are the greatest improvement though. I have 4.56s and 33X 12.50s on my 95 runner and shes a dog, but I love her! I need to eliminate that crossover myself and i plan on adding the ceramic coated headers. Should also sound pretty mean. I did put them on my 86 runner and it opened up a brand new 22RE quite a bit. Keep in mind these rigs are built for torque, not horses. Happy wheelin

yeah it would
