rebuilt 22re
me and my nephew have recently been rebuilding my toyota 93 p/u 22re,the engine was done by a machine shop bored out to a 3.0 piston size, well we got everything back together and it seems to be starving for gas and now it sounds like the engine is slapping the vales and of course i got the head reworked to,i just hope the person didnt over shave my head,it ran smoothe for 30 mins tops now it seems it is falling apart.grinding crunching..what should i do in this situation bring the machinist to the house and ask do you know where this is coming from or srip the engine back down andfine the problem myself?

3.0 size is pretty big. Fuel system is probably adjusted to feed that thing.
Tough desicision id say.. If it sounds worse then it did when it first started id be tempted to rip her down again.
If theres a problem with the valves their will be evidence.
