Power steering woes..

I've got a '91 4 runner that has had a leaking steering box for awhile now, filling the reservoir periodically is easy....watching your driveway turn to crap is hard. Not being able to allot time to removing and rebuilding the steering box, I decided to give a try to the Lucas P/S stop leak. I sucked the reservoir dry and replaced the Dexron with the Lucas. It seems to have taken care of the leak and drives great while in motion, yet when I come to a stop or whilst driving push in the clutch and allow the engine to idle.....no boost! I'm running 31-10.50's
So I draw out the Lucas and replaced it with Dexron and still the same.At an idle in the driveway , it's like the power steering belt is off. It's very hard to turn the steering wheel lock to lock. What did I damage? How will I repair this?

I've done a search and several older post (2006 +/-) members said they had great luck with the Lucas.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

you ran the power steering system with just lucus in it? not supposed to do that. there is a ratio that has to be kept between regular fluid and lucas. Running stop leak in anything can mess up good parts that are supposed to move etc etc. Since there is valves etc in the gear box that's supposed to move, I'd be willing to bet the stop leak clogged them up. Never use stop leak in anything, it's a gimmick and while it may stop a leak it also seals up stuff that wasn't meant to be sealed.
