Oil pump removal
I'm doing the timing chain on my 22RE this weekend. I have the crank bolt and pulley off. The bolts out on the oil pump.
Do I just pry it off the crank shaft? It is wiggling but not wanting to release. Any advice for me?
Thanks!

I have. Everybody that I read just passed over it like it was a no brainer. The FSM doesn't mention it in the section on removing the timing chain. I'm a little stumped.

I just found the section in FSM on lubrication - it talks about an oil pump relief valve plug - maybe that's my problem. I'll take a look at that tomorrow. I seem to remember that part of the pump not having a bolt head - it was just flat.

use some cardboard (pizza boxes work very well) and make yourself a template for those bolts. ....especially when doing the timing cover it is imperative you have tose bolts in the right holes because there are a few sizes.

I have a cardboard template for all of the components. Water pump, oil pump and timing cover. Lots of different length bolts. Pay attention to torque spec and one will need a little sealant on it when reinstalling everything. Cant recalll right off, but it is mentioned in manuals.
