OBD Tools

I would like to know if the OBD tools that can be borrowed at an Advanced Auto can actually erase the current errors that are causing the engine light to come on.

I am getting the P0420 and P0430 errors on my '06 Tacoma. Supposedly a new catalytic converter on both sides. I really don't want to spend the kind of coin it takes to get this fixed so I can pass emissions.

Suggestions are appreciated. 120K miles on the truck, runs great from what I can tell. I have heard it can be O2 sensors, but with both coming up it is pretty likely that I am screwed.

passed emissions

I was able to erase my codes, drove it for 30 miles exactly and then passed emissions-I checked it at 20 miles and 25 miles and it would not pass, but right at 30 it passed.

Both CAT banks were giving errors, but only one errored during the test. In Georgia you can still pass with one error. I understand that it will still probably be an issue going forward, but I will deal with it later this year-at least it won't be a suprise.

Find a patient emissions guy that will work with you.

Engine light has never come on again..........I trust it will
