no atf temp sensor

Hello there im new to this board i live in Suriname (south america) i recently bought a 96 2wd sr5(has limited badges) "bought it that way" and i have a problem i have a check engine light and pulled the code p0710 "Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Malfunction" i searched under the car but cannot locate the sensor i already looked in the service manual but its not where the manual says it should be the previous owner told me that he had changed the tranny a couple of months ago so could it be that this tranny doesnt have the temp sensor?
and is there anything i can do to keep the check engine from lighting up(a fix to not show this code)??
thanx in advance

You could try putting a resistor in place of the sensor and reset the computer and see if the light goes off and stays off.
