so definitely going with the 906s for the rear. is there a topout spacer that would give me a level rake? i know theres got to be and how many inches would the top out spacer be? right now completely stock, i am roughly .25 to .5" higher in the front. any ideas. i could get the top out spacers for front pretty cheap that is why?

you don't need a top plate spacer after the new coils.

I thought you were going to get both front and rear springs?

I'm planning to do the same setup but i would like a little rake (rear higher). Still saving money as I don't have the resources right now.

i heard good and bad about the top plate spacers for the front. since its not preloading the stock spring then i thought it wouldn't be that bad. also, i can get them for pretty cheap from a friend. would save me a lot over buying front springs right away. also, am going to use stock shocks until i can afford new ones which could be awhile. no offroading as well, all pavement for me

You don't need top plate spacers in the front to get a level lift with 906's in teh rear. I have 881/ top plate spacers and that combo gave me over 3.5" of lift in the front. 906's in the rear gave me only 2" of lift, making the truck rake from front to back, and not back to front. That's why I'm trading my 906's for 890's. Just gotta figure out if I need to step up to an adj. panhard bar after the swap.

I don't have a top out spacer as you requested, I just have an in the coil spacer, but will level with your rear.

anyone running stock shocks with ome springs??

im gonna order ome 881 and 906s and want to know if anybody has run a similar setup with stock shocks. don't have enough for new shocks right now and need to know if it will ride like crap with my old shocks. street only for me no dirt i will add. or i can afford to get 906s with n86 shocks right now and i do have a friend who can get me a front spacer for really cheap. so this setup would consists of spacer front with stock shocks with rear ome 906s with n86 ome shocks. would this setup ride good for street use until i can afford complete ome front setup? thanks for any help

I'm missing the point of why you would spend money to redo your front setup twice? Do it right the first time so you don't throw your money away.

the 906's are only like 2" of lift, so odds are you could get away with stock shocks w/o flexing them out.

I have stock length Bilsteins, front and rear. I'm running Tacoma TRD coils in front and OME 891s out back. Even with the stock length rears I get a ton of droop. I have a line on some 5100s so I may be changing soon.

You don't get longer shocks for the front for more lift. The shock limits the droop. Too much droop and you will pop CVs.

You should be fine with stock length shocks with the 906s.

True, You will be paying the labor to mount the fronts on the stock shock. Find the money and replace at least the front shocks.

its just the ome shocks for the front would put me over my budget. i don't have a 4wd so i have no CVs. was considering 906s for the rear and possibly a spacer kit for the front in the meantime(i can get a spacer for my stock coils up front for pretty cheap). eventually i will be able to get everything ome but it might be awhile. so would say a 2" spacer up front with 906 in the rear all stock shocks around ride any good. i don't go offroad so thats not an issue with me

Wink

I did the OME 890 coils in the back with the stock shocks for a while.....the ride was really bouncy! My stock shocks were toast! I got a great deal on some SkyJacker 2.5" lift shocks from NAPA for $110.00 Canadian. (that should be like $5.00 American!!) JK! The Skyjacker shocks ride pretty nice, but If you got the money.....go with some Bilstiens.... I lifted my truck for about $600.00 Canadian....but the front are spacers...

I ran stock shocks front and rear with 881's up front and 891's out back for a while. The shocks limit travel of the springs and the ride/flex is better with the aftermarket shocks; but yes you can do it.
You will have to compress the hell out of the springs up front to get them in the shock because the stock shock is like 2 inches shorter than the OME.

lift setup for now and for later......advice

well right now i have new 31x10.5 15's on my 97 2wd runner. with this setup im leaning towards the ome 881/906. haven't bought anything yet for the lift. my question is for the in a couple years from now. i want to keep my 15s cause i like them but when my old tires get a bit old i wanted to possibly get 33x10.5 for my 15s. so would the lift im planning on putting on 881/906 work with the 33s i will eventually get. seems like 31s are a tad too small from what people say so i will go bigger when they get worn down. anybody have any ideas for what i should do now and down the road. i really don't want to have to buy new coils later when i put 33's on my rims. so would 881/906 work for both tire size or should i use a different setup intially. i did some research but still wanted to ask this question to see what people would say. thanks.

I would go with the 882/891 setup that should give you plenty of lift. It is the same combo I am running on my 99 2wd.

Tires should clear, but 882/891's might be a little rough unless you're carrying around a lot of weight. Maybe look at the 881/890's; you'll get a little more lift than whats advertised since you're 2WD.

Yeah okie81 is right, the 882s are heavy duty coils rated for 150+ lbs of extra weight in the front and will give you a kidney-busting ride w/o a winch/bumper combo. The 881s w/ the spacer will give the same lift but ride much better than the 882s w/o the extra weight.

The 890s for the rear will be the right choice unless you regularly carry 300-600 lbs. of extra weight in the back. My 891s ride great with weight but are very harsh when the truck is empty.

this is for 99% highway. only time we go offroad is maybe camping and little trails. so i want a lift to get me the best ride as possible. also my wife and 3 lil kids are mainly riding in this vehicle so it has to ride good on the road. don't carry extra weight in back besides having my son, stroller, few extra things back there. i mounted a bucket seat in the rear for my son to sit(yes i did a seatbelt too). so maybe there might be 50-70 lbs back there occassionally. could i do 906s and add a trim packer or small spacer down the rode. i hear the 906s ride the best for highway with no weight in the rear. thanks

Do you have a picture of your rear bucket seat? I'd like to see that.
