installing 4wd fenders. no power steering. newbie. help!

howdy.

i have an 89 toyota pickup(2wd) standard cab.

i got the vehicle for a steal so i decided that i would repair everything myself and learn along the way(with help from all of you, of course!)

as the title says, i'm about to install some 4x4 fenders(yes, the truck is getting dropped). i thought i read somewhere a while back that the 2wd bumper DOES NOT fit(or line up) with the 4x4 fenders.

so my main questions are; will i need to purchase a 4wd bumper and 4wd valance? and will i need to swap my 2wd grille for a 4wd grille?

basically i want to know if any of the front 2wd body parts are usable with 4wd fenders.

NOW...the power steering!
as i'm not the most knowledgeable car guy, it's going to be hard for me to explain some of this without pictures.(i'll post some tomorrow when the suns out). but anywho..
the power steering pump seems to hold fluid and warms up. ONE of the belts is missing(22re engine, the belt is on the bottom right(when looking at it with the hood up standing directly in front of it). one of the pulleys seems to be locked up(i cant get it to spin with my fingers). the pulley that is locked is the smaller of the 2 that the belt runs on. is this why my power steering is not working? and also...

when the truck is cold and warming up, it starts to make a weird noise until it gets warm. i've heard the same noise several times from other random cars driving down the road(it's a loud noise that randomly stops). is that the locked pulley?

sorry for the newbie terms, i'll get some pictures up tomorrow of the missing belt and locked pulley(if thats even what its called!)

thanks for any help in advance.
it's going to be fun to learn from all sorts of people and watch the reforming of this beast. lol

You will need:

4wd bumper
4wd grille
4wd side lights
4wd fenders

Is the pulley on the top middle of the engine? If so, thats the adjustment for the PS pump since the PS pump is hard mounted to the engine. If that pulley is frozen, you need to get a new one.

i believe its bottom middle. i'll have pictures up tomorrow. i know its the smaller of the two. so with that frozen pulley, thats why my power steering is not working?

you dont have to run a complete 4x4 front end. this truck isnt mine but it is a 2wd with 4x4 fenders. it still has the 2wd grill and bumper. as you can see the fenders are just a little bit wider then the bumper. you will have to change the side marker lights though.

alright, cool. thanks for the pic robert.

and deathcougar, you are correct. it is the middle top. and also the big one on the bottom does not spin as well(there are 2 pulleys on the bottom, the inside one has a belt on it, the outside one does not spin and has no belt). the only one that spins is the big one on the top right.

this picture should show everything i'm trying to refer to.

The bottom one is your harmonic balancer. I should hope you cannot spin that by hand...if you could, that would be bad.

The one that does not spin in your pic is called the Power steering tensioner pulley. Likely, the bearing is froze up.
