i fun a 4runner turbo...

and i am very interested in buying it. it is almost in perfect condition 1986. no leaks found, and everything seems to be working just fine. my only concern is that i'm not very familiar with that engine and i don't know if there are any down falls or any issues with that engine. the truck has been sitting for a while, but the owner does turn on the car every week or so. i went and took a look at it and i'm in the boarder of buying it. but first i want to hear some suggestion from the people that are more familiar with this engine. any help is helpful, so please put in your 2 cents.

thanks in advance
btw, the price for the 4runner is $2,500, is the price reasonable??? taking in consideration that it is a limited edition turbo 4runner that is almost at a 100% condition.

Parts are sometimes difficult and expensive to buy.
They do make great vehicles though

i was speaking with th ower and he said he had taken it to get some stuff repaired, but what is very noticeable is like a vacuum leak. i couldn't find where the leak is located, but couldn't determind if it was the turbo, or something involving the turbo

Nothing complicated.
At the moment it is a little low on power. The 4th cylinder has low compression.
Other than that nothing to complain of. Sometimes it seems like it takes a while for the turbo to kick in. Maybe it could use a new turbo timer.

the turbo timer is to kick the engine on to keep the turbo spooling until the turbo cools down. btw, the turbo on the 4runner has just been rebuilt.

Timer is to keep the engine running after you pull the key to allow for proper cool down. Turbo only spools under load.

thanks stagger_lee, i noticed that when i took the 4runner around the block, it is stronger then my other 4runner(i have another 1st gen with a 22re, with a 5 gear tranny) once the turbo kicks in, it's just a big difference. the turbo truck is going to be a x mas present for my dad, but he still doesn't know it's gonna be his lol. i'll post some pics up later tonight from the two 4runners, and lets see what you guys think
