Driving in 4 Wheel Drive
I'm not a newb but have a newb quesiton so here it is.
I went wheeling the other day and have a couple of questions.
Can you engage the transfer case in 4 wheel drive low or high with out having the front wheels locked? Will it hurt my rig in any way?
Thanks-Blake

you're just turning the front shaft, diff and axle shafts?
other than drag and load the engine will overcome by using more gas, I don't see the point...
Yes, you can use 2L... I do it all the time... But watch how you cut the wheels.

If the hubs are not locked, you can not shift on the fly.
If you come to a stop, shift, and then go on, though, it won't hurt the truck any ... until you get stuck and really need the front wheels driving ...

elblako91: No, you can't hurt the truck at all by doing so. All that's going to happen is your front driveshaft/diff/axles will spin with no load on them. It doesn't really matter to them if there's a wheel on the end or not.
