DOT Regs on offroad tires

I just put 33x12.5 on some 10" rims; the rims have a 3.5 offset so they stick out about 2.5 inches out from the body. Anyone know what the DOT regs for tires sticking out are? I live in Alberta but I'm sure that the regs are universal. If I need flare any advice on where to get cheep ones or fab them myself?

Thanks.

Not sure in your area, but from the on-line Calif. DMV site, they list tread covered by the fender flare as well as the tire covered down at least to the center line by a mud flap in back. I used to run 33x15.50 Swampers on 15x10-2.5"b/s rims and ran 4" Bushwacker flares:

I also have 33x12.50 tires on and mine stick out a couple inches. no issues as of yet in the southern states, don't know about northern or canada. my flap in back only covers about 2/3 of the tire horizontally and not even 1/2 of the tire vertically

From what I've seen in Alberta they don't seem to have any regs Here in BC no part of the tread can stick out past the fenders.
