Can't install snap ring on front axle.
Whats up everyone. I've searched but have found no solutions to my problem so I figured I'd just ask for help.
My spindles were sounding like I was dragging a garbage truck upside down so I figured it was time to put some grease on the bushings. Naturally I did it the hard way and pulled the cv's. Now that I have them back in I can't pull the axle through the spindle far enough to get the snap ring in the groove. Is this something as stupid as having too much grease, if that is even possible? Does anyone know anything clever that I can do to push this axle out another 1/16"?
Lastly, I know I can get the snap ring on without the splined washer behind it, but my conscience tells me not to do that. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Keith

Ok I got it. I used a 1 1/8th socket on the end of the axle. It was big enough to fit over the end of the axle yet small enough to press the washer and clip into the groove. Just had to find a slightly longer bolt. Wish I thought of that earlier.
Oh and to runner, the nuts at the dif were off. The axle just would not push through with arm force alone. I'm guessing maybe it was because it has been so cold where I'm at, making the grease I used a lot less viscous.

I had this same problem when I replaced my CV's. Turned out I had packed WAY too much grease on the spindle bushings. And yes, the 1 1/8 socket helps on getting that pesky ring on.
