Cam Sprocket Question

Just joined the site, looks great.

I was wondering if the person who worked on my Runner before I owned it put the cam sprockets on backwards ??

90' 4Runner 4X4 5 speed stick with a 3VZE.

I've seen pics where it looks like the cam sprockets are facing the opposite way mine do.

Here's the pics before I took it apart, tell me what you think.

That's the way it is. But, on my 3vze the cam with the flange forward was on the driver side not the passenger side. It shouldn't make a difference, right?

I don't think it will make a real difference, my thought was as long as there are opposing it should keep the belt from wandering, if I'm wrong please tell me.

Normally the flange is out on the drivers side. How many miles since that TB was installed? It looks like it's riding ok, so far.

I can't say when it was installed, done by previous owner, he's a Korean guy and comunication is VERY difficult.

It's a crappy ITM belt, I've installed a new Gates timing component kit

I've got the components installed, and timing marks all lined up nicely,
but when I turn the motor by hand the belt wants to creep towards the front of the engine not sure why it's doing that.

Is this something that will correct itself ?
Doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it, I mean there doesn't seem to be anyway to adjust said movement.
Only way I can see to do anything about that would be to flip the guide on the crank sprocket over, but the book says to be sure to install the guide the the curved lip facing away from the belt.

Thanks for the help gentlemen.

Hey idiot, why don't you try installing that bolt you have in that ziplock bag that says "timing belt tensioner bolt"

Hehe, I forgot about the bolt that goes through the center of the tensioner, installed with thread lock(blue) torqued to 27 foot pounds.

I took the motor apart in April.
