5.71's or 5.29's with 39.5 iroks
I have a 2002 s10 with 24" lift. it has the 4.3L vortec and an auto 4L60 trans. im runnin 39.5's with 5.29 gears on toyota axles. ive noticed the truck doesnt like goin 60. should i waste my time and try 5.71 gears instead? any help would be nice. thanks

V6 chunks, Longfields and 5:71's FWIW....
I have a 1984 toy truck, I was running a 350 .60 over sbc last year and the front end held togather. Now going with a 400sbc. The motor builder says 600hp. How long will the front end hold up? Will longfields hold up? Will the rear hold up to?

i wouldnt suggest 5.71s. I had a set on an old toy i had on 44s and i couldnt keep a pinion in it because theres only one tooth at a time on the pinion grabbing the ring gear which makes it really weak.

You don't have Toyota trans gearing, but have a 200hp V6, and it doesn't like 60?
"Power output of the new LU3/LG3 engines is 180 hp (130 kW) to 200 hp (150 kW) and 245 lb·ft (332 N·m) to 260 lb·ft (353 N·m)."
Is it over revving? Revs too low?

couldn't ya run some different coil-overs? to lose a little lift i mean...not suggesting it...just asking
i've heard that 5.71's aren't any weaker than 5.29's...

^^ zuk is the master..
@87yota, if you break the pinion and not the ring, more than likely something is setup wrong. the ring gear has the smaller/weaker teeth. a proper setup up is where you get your durability.
