1986 Toyota xtra cab roll bar size?
Hello I was wondering what the proper roll bar/ light bar size would be for my 86 xtra cab sr5.
The one I have, the bar is about 6 inches taller than the top of my cab. Is this too large? The roll bar is off of a 92 Toyota pickup long bed.

more than likely it is just a light bar. which serves little to none in a roll over. From what i understand those bolt to the bed and not the frame. Which in general serves little purpose.

Well it's really heavy duty it weighs at least 200 pounds and is a double piped steel like the one from the back to the future truck and it bolts onto my wheel wells but it's too long so I have to re weld the arms/legs of it to fit on
my wheel wells in my bed. I'm just wondering how high it's supposed to be above my cab. Do the 92 pickups have a higher cab than my 86?

Where's pirate. Cant find the forum for it.
I am not worried about rolling my truck because I only bought it for the lights but I am just wondering what the proper height for one is.

pirate4x4.com is what he's talking about ..
Tha's how high mine is, and mine came off an 87 ex. cab pickup - the rear needed to be redone (and still needs to be redone..) to bolt in a bit better.. Either way these kinda bars are just for lights to hang off of, they will help a little bit in a roll over - but certainly wont prevent major damage..

it usually looks the best when only about 1/2 of the top crosspipe is above the roofline.
though for lighting, the higher the better.
measure from your bedfloor to the roofline of the truck, and that will be around how high you want it, depending on the "Look vs. performance ratio" you want.

it wont really help at all in a roll over. it will just rip out, along with your bed possibly

i hope i answered all your questions

new lights..
old lights..
To give you a better idea of how high my bar is - again, mine is from an 87 so it would fit well in your truck, if you had a bar from a newer gen it'll fit very much the same, perhaps slightly taller which is better..
