vsc trac light on with check engine light
I recently joined and i am happy to know that there is a place you can goto for some helpful tips to save you time and money. I am a proud owner of a 99 4runner with 157k on it, will have pic soon. But my question for today is for my father, he owns a 03 4runner v6, his check engine light is on together with the vsc and trac light......i noticed there were conversations about this but no resolution......do you guys know what the latest is on this problem? I have not had any time to check the codes since my father lives 30 miles from me but i just wanted to give him a good advice..
also, the dealership told him the last time he was there that he needed new pads and rotors for the rears plus new calipers on the rear driver side. Is this a typical problem for this model? they are asking 1200 and i think its a joke. He did not have it fixed yet but I wanted to throw in the question just in case this is not an isolated incident.

Anytime the computer registers a trouble code the check engine light and the VSC and TRAC lights all go on. Without a scan there is no point in guesing what the problem is.
As for the brakes I've no experience with discs on the rear of 4Runners, my 01 still has drums. But I would get a second and third opinion before spending $1200.
