Glove Box Light
One thing I do wish I had was a light inside my glove box on my 05 Tacoma, is there anyone here who has added one to their 4th Gen Runner or 05 Tacoma? Or any Tacoma or 4Runner?
Thanks
Thanks

I'm serprised that you haven't recieved any replies on this so I'll chime in.I don't have a light in my 01 Tacoma either but it seems like I have no problem seeing anything I want in there. That being said I see no reason not to hook one up or any problem in doing it. Go to a junk yard or even to a Toyota parts place and get a new one like they use in your ash tray, mount in the box and hook it up to a hot wire and a push switch so that it goes off when you close it. You can even just use a small switch inside the box and turn it off and on at will. Mike

Can anyone point me in the right direction as there is no light to begin with and I want to add one here? Exactly what kind of switch would I need and so forth.

Find an ashtray light or small light at the junkyard.....wire that to a hot wire in the dash with a push or plunger switch so it will come on when the glove box is open. Did you read the post above yours?

I did not exactly know what a push switch was. So would something like this would work correct?

Just wire it to the parking lights. That's how it is from the factory on my 1990 Subaru and my 2004 Tacoma. Anytime the lights are on, it is on. No worries about it getting too hot as long as you use a small bulb. The one in the subie is the original 1990 bulb and still works fine.

Go to a junkyard and get the right lower dash section/glovebox from a 2nd gen 4Runner. If you can't make it fit as is, at least you'll have the switch, lamp and wiring...

My 3rd gen 4runner has a light in the glove box, its burned out though . Go to a dealer and ask for the switch and lamp assembly for a 2000 4runner. This assembly has a grille to protect the light.
