Talking 4th gen Daystar lift and Revos Before and after pics

OK, got new Revo's on my Runner today! Looks good, they sound a little more noisy than my Dunlops but the jury is still out. Need to put miles on them to really test. They defintely fill out the wells better after the lift.

My lift settled a little bit in the back so before the Revo's I was 36" front and 37.25" in the back (so back is only 1.5" lift at the end, front stayed at 2.5"). After I put the Revo's on I have 36.5" front and 37.75" back, and it looks like the Runner is nicely leveled front to back.

I love the fact that the untrained eye will barely notice the difference.

Thanx guys!

Now I need to go test it out this Saterday, get the 20k service done next week (switching everything to syn oil, engine, tranny, trans, diffs also driveline service). And then I can get it nice and clean the next weekend.

How are you looking on shoes 4route? You will probably add bigger ones than I did?

I don't know ... I may add 265/70 or 275s ... I'm a bit hesitant to add 285s because I don't want to change the way the truck accelerates or its MPG.

Were you able to go somewhere and just have them test to see how the tires would fit on your truck??

I knew the 265/70/17 would fit no prob, so I just ordered them and had them fitted. But I'm sure if you phone the shop and ask they will do it, if they stock the tires. You also going for Revo's ?

I dunno ... I know Revos are supposed to be the best, but I don't have too too much $$, so I'll just have to see. I may be forced to go to 4Wheel Parts

I just tested with my GPS and my speedo underreads by 2.5% and my ODO by 5% now. They both where a little pesimistic before but it is about 2% extra now with slightly bigger tires.

4route no other tire dealers that will be willing to let you test? You should be fine if you go down to 16" wheels and get 275/70/16 but they are actually a bit smaller than 265/70/17 31.2" vs 31.7". Maybe just use tried and tested solutions, get a poll of who fitted what on their 4th gen's (the sport has slightly bigger brake rotors so keep that in mind). You might even get some guys in your area to test their wheel/tire setup on your rig. Have tirethon

I like it, looks good. I like the revo's, i think they are a good tire. Yeah a bit more roady sound'n then the dunlops, but come on, your lifted now so they better hear ya comin...also, you'll forget about that quite dunlop ride in 2 days....mark my words!

Much better lifted! The Revo's are the way to go if you plan on doing any off roadin where rocks are involved. I popped one of my original Dunlops on an early off road excursion (the rock climbin did it).

Tested them out at Clear creek today. Nothing too major, but still a good test.

Unfortunately no mud, maybe next time. The Revos feel so much better off road than the stock Dunlops. They grip a lot better in the dirt and I'm sure it doesn't hurt that they are a bit bigger (actually quite a bit).

WIth the lift and the Revos it was so much easier doing the trails than before. Now I can go out and explore with a lot more confidence. If I would have to put a number to it, I would say the 4th Gen's trail capability went up by at least 40% with the lift and better tires. I would highly recommend this to anybody who has a 4th Gen and want to use it off road. For very little extra road noise, virtually no change in handling and around 1 MPG mileage drop, this is definitely worth it. Still far from a hardcore rig, but very competent now.

By the way, I was able to clear obstacles a couple of time with 2 wheels hanging a bit and just the traction control. Wish I could have gotten more pics and videos.
