That truck looks nice from 10'. I'd pay $2900 for it from 10'.
Thing is the frame - and possibly the body where it's starting to rust. If the rust is pitted / flaking, that's a big problem long term... It'd be a nice looking $2000 (or less) truck.

I think I'm going to have to back off the price. I know that here in the KC area, there are zero 4Runners for sale for the most part. The ones that are for sale are either total rust buckets (selling for $1500+) or not even close to stock.

When I bought it 3 years ago, the price seemed right ($4000), especially for its condition.

Kinda makes me want to just keep it, but I really need the dough.

I would pay whatever insurance would pay for it if they where to total it after a accident I could see it selling for around 2500$ to 3000$ here if you found the right buyer.
other wise you would get 1500$ to 2000$ depending on how bad that rust is and what rust is hiding and waiting to pop out.

It sucks to lose any $ on a vintage rig though... That truck is in amazing condition for its age, really good. At $4k, you might have paid a higher-than-market price, $3k range is pretty common for a decent first-gen. To me, the SR5 adds a LOT to the desirability!! Unless you are upgrading... why not just keep it and drive your money out of it!! I almost sold Whitey last year, but I got lucky, and didn't. Now, I dont think I'll ever sell him.

Too much rust for your asking price. I bought my 85 runner w/22re for $1400 no rust at all and a perfect body, all it needed was a head gasket, then I bought my second 85 fuel injected runner for $3600, lifted, detroit locked front and rear only one dent in the body and no rust at all. I know yours is newer but demand for the 84-85 is higher and I paid less than your asking price for those. I'm not in your area obviously but I don't think anyone would pay 4k for your truck unless they were a real sucker. Even if the body is great it won't help much when the frame falls apart.

If I were you, I'd just hang on to it. Get the undercarriage cleaned up and drive it. The body can easily be repaired. Clean up the frame and enjoy that gem.

Sounds like a good idea, in theory. I really want to keep it, we're just broke and need to get another car. Around here, total rust buckets (4Runners), I mean body and frame rusted out completely, are going for $1500-$2000. I figured mine is in better condition than most you'll find, and the rust on the frame is not pitted, just surface. I've checked, thoroughly. I figure $3000 is a pretty good deal.

However, I may be one of the few that think it is a good deal. Maybe I'm biased, like many of you on here; I think the rig is solid, and in damn fine condition for being over twenty-years old, and certainly worth at least $3000.
