What mods to do with ~$1000?

I no theres something like that. My old boss had them in his jeep. I don't know what they were so i guess im not much help except to encourage you to keep looking. I'd do suspension and maybe jus find some seats in better condition out of another 4runner.

I'm sure there is nice stuff like that out there, some vinyl or new space age material or something.
My big plan is to see if he can put in a layer of high density foam or maybe even memory foam type stuff for the best comfort. My friend who makes bike seats uses this sheet of maybe inch thick black foam rubber stuff, super comfy! And gave me the idea.

Also, after driving a couple hundred miles this weekend. I think cruise control would be something I wouldn't mind spending some money on. My left leg was killing me.....

I think I will end up doing the suspension first. It really rides like crap. I can wait on the seats and just drive the ranger more often.

I spent a grand total of $45 to do it, and I'm willing to bet it's better in function and durability than a new set of leafs. I think some like to poo-poo the idea. I don't know.....maybe it doesn't "look" so hot. I think it looks pretty neat, myself. As far as comfort, well maybe it's not as soft as grandma's towncar, but it's pretty damn nice....especially with a good set of shocks and a bushing replacement. I've hauled 1000lbs-1600lbs several times over the course of a few months and still maintain the same ride height....1/2" higher in the rear, almost imperceptible really. Zuk sold me a pair of coils off the front of a 200? Jeep TJ and I found the load rating to be just perfect for the application. If you don't haul any considerable weight, maybe something a little lighter duty would be better. But, consider how heavy the front end of a Jeep is......
So, I just thought I'd mention it. It'd save some money for other things you'd want to do.

Haha...yeah, that would the actor "Dennis Leary". Timothy Leary would be from the generation before ours. Big time experimentation with the world of psychadelics. In fact, the LSD guru of the 60's. Kind interesting, but kinda not.

This is a good thread because I was wondering where to start on my 88 4Runner,3Lv6(slow) SR5 w/ A/T. Who does the 3.4L swaps? how easy is it to do? I am thinking you need a wrecked one first so all the parts are there. Anyways, I am starting with rear susp. I figure with the sag I have, 3" should bring it back to normal, plus some good shocks. Who likes OME and how do you buy it (links, please)? Anyone have any other faves for leafs, Downey, etc? I've lived in Reno, Nv for 3 years now, just getting into this thing, plus it's my first Toyota. Thanks, Phil

As far as the 3.4 swap, that's cool and all, but I personally would be much more interested in a diesel swap.
