Nothing gnarls. The only thing that steered me away was in order to keep stock o2 location, I would only test one cylinder. I would consider it more since mine did this. A little late though.....

Gnarls, you're a fan of the doug thorley tri-y? It looks really nice to me, I was just thinking LCE because of all the praise. I've looked at the doug thorley tri-y on summit and they look nice.

Oh and Gnarls, this is a description on the Mexican hot dog:

I looked at the thorley. It was about the same price for the ceramic coat if you order from Gerone on TRDparts4u here on the forum. I went with LCE to have an exhaust that was made to go together all the way back. Thorley used to have a Thorley/Jardine cat back kit that is now no longer available.

And yes, I got the exhaust stud kit.

If I did it over again. Most likely a thorley ceramic header, Magnaflow cat, and a flowmaster 50 catback fom a local shop.

Don't laugh, I read the installation instruction PDF and it stated that I would have to raise the motor to install the dough thorley's?

I didn't know about the raising the motor part.

I must be one of the few that the browning has happened to.

I would be ok with the setup I stated above with an LCE header if mine wouldn't have turned so fast. I wonder if I am burning too much fuel (supra maf) and thats causing higher exhaust temps?

If I would have leaned out the maf a click maybe it wouldn't have happened?

That browning doesn't look too bad, I think I'm set on the LCE's and I'm going to source out a cheap magnaflow high flow cat and muffler and have it welded up at a local shop. Do I absolutely NEED to get the header stud kit or no?

Let me clarify,So you ARE experiencing some heat issues with the LCE non-ceramic headers? That said, would you recommend that I go with a ceramic coated header for my venture, whether it be pacesetter or the doug thorleys?

Don't need it, but I had to helicoil the head as I had some damaged threads. and the threads are a little longer so I didn't get geekout about cranking it to 33 -lbs.

And don't get the 14 inch magnaflow unless you want it LOUD. My bro got a flowmaster 50 delta and it sounded nice aidl, ood when you revved it, AND QUIET IN THE CAB!!

IMO, I think the Thorley header is a better design with the Tri-Y vs the 4-to-1 design. If i were to purchase a header, that would be my choice even though it's more expensive. The design seems like it would allow for a more free flowing header. If you like the 4-to-1 design, I would go with the OBX due to the price tag.

To toss one more option in the mix, I read that one of the best exhaust setups on a 22re is with a stock header/exhaust manifold (because of the thickness of the casting and the backpressure it gives), then go with 2" pipe from the flange to a high-flow CAT, then go with 2.25" or 2.5" pipe the rest of the way back including a high flow muffler. This is the route that I am planning on going with my truck. I decided it when I was working on my exhaust leak recently. The rest of my exhaust has lots of pinholes here and there, so I'm planning on going down to a local exhaust shop and have them fab up everything from the header flange back. I'll be supplying a new CAT, muffler, and O2 sensor bung - gonna have them do the rest as they said it would be around $300 since they'll be fabricating a new downpipe/connector pipe from scratch.

I tried the pasesetter w/ ceramic coat and it was a piece of crap. The gasket they send doesnt even work and the welds dont clear for the air injection pipe to seat. I ended up going with the LCE and Im happy so far. As far as the quality the LCE is far superior for just a little more money.

Thats the one the use in the pro flow exhaust. Its good, just loud as hell.

I'm gonna put on a high flow cat with it so hopefully having a cat will quiet it down a little no? But for $90 the muffler seems like a good deal.

The cat does not quiet it down. Do they have an 18 inch muffler? I would get that one, IMHO.
