K&N drop in.. lots of people say they suck but it's usually because they don't oil them properly. They've been used in every application there is for decades..they must not suck that bad.. I have them in all my vehicles. It made a noticeable improvement in my Tundra.

but you shouldn't have to oil an air filter to make it work properly.....

i'll be running a cheap rice burner filter on my 4runner...althought the K&N will stay on it for a while lol..i'll go ahead and use the rest of the filtercharger stuff too

I ran several types with my 22re...

*stock paper style
*K&N drop in
*converted AFM to run 3" cone filter

The ONLY difference I ever noticed is that with K&N or the cone filter, you could hear the engine when you stepped on the throttle... I never noticed a power or MPG gain difference from running a stock style paper one...

In the end, I just said screw it and ran a stock style paper one

i use the stock style paper filter, if you are using your truck offroad in a dusty climate you shouldnt use a k&n filter because it will let dirt get into your engine.

I used to run K&N's till I noticed my oil was getting dirty way too fast (use OEM oil fitlers). Changed to a paper and the oil has stayed clean for much longer.

However, I did notice a power increase on specifically the 4runner (built engine) and slightly on the truck. It sucked going back to the stock setup! I'm looking at converting to a larger airbox from a 3vze or supra or something.

a really old clogged up one, my truck wont run with it in...or out, so i keep it in ,unlatch the cover and rest it half over the filter and half off...beats spendin 20 bucks on a new one...jk

K&N. Came with the truck. Seems to work well but I have nothing to compare it to.

k&N works better than the cheap one it came with and i go splashing through mud everyday and think i have to hit every water hole in the street. G/F's reply to that: i knew you were going to do that so i rolled up my window before we even left the house

Lol.. yes you should. On every dirtbike, fourwheeler, lawnmower, etc etc, on the market. The air filter is oiled. All it does is trap more particles.

Also: I run a cheap ass FRAM. Because i run a carb, and it doesnt matter what kind i put on mine because all it really sees is road anymore anyways.

I run a K&N filter because I can wash (clean) the filter after each weekends use. I service the crap out of my Yota because I do not want any problems on trail. It's a funny thing.... why are most of the rigs broken on trail are neglected pieces of crap?

Ya it ticks me off when a trail gets clogged up and it's because of some stupid carnage that was totally preventable had the owner spent 10 minutes checking stuff BEFORE they went wheeling. I lay under my rig for an hour before every trail run checking U-bolt nuts, driveline bolts, diff fluid levels, steering arm bolts, ect.. more than once I found something that could of left me stranded later on.

Back on topic I run a K&N Filters on my Rotax that powers my AIRPLANE!

I pretty much trust my life to my engine most of the time since I'm always flying around in the mountains. The engine is a 582cc two cylinder 2 STROKE!!

And yes they get oiled... so does the Unifilter on my Motocross bike.
